The Future.
The world is evolving, and technology is advancing. In fact, technology is so advanced to the point where we have talking robots that are smarter than some of the most intelligent people on the planet. The future is robots and that is nothing to fear. If the robots are made correctly with the right information and process, then our futures’ look to be smooth and easy.
The thought of robots taking over the world does raise questions. Will there be fewer jobs? Will the world population decrease? Hopefully, in this op-ed, I will explain why robots are good for the future and change your mind on AI in general.
What can AI do?
Artificial intelligence (AI) can perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings. More than three billion voice assistants are now in use and eight billion will be by 2023. Crazy stat, right? 37% of businesses and organisations employ AI and nine out of ten leading businesses invest in AI. This is because many companies believe that robots are the next big thing. Robots can be a huge advantage to companies around the world. Making work easy and quicker and having a smarter approach to certain projects.
Are we halfway there?
We have self-driving cars that are getting increasingly popular as years go on. We have robots working in the factories for stocktaking and deliveries for companies like Amazon. All the jobs that nobody wants to do like cleaning, factory work, supermarkets. AI has it covered. It gives people the opportunity to get the job they have been working towards rather than doing a job they are unhappy with.
For those who must work with robots in this modern-day, 65% of workers are optimistic, excited and grateful to work with AI, they believe it makes their job more exciting and nearly a quarter of them have a ‘loving and gratifying relationship’ with them. Would you like your manager to be AI-operated?
AI in the industry.
Although, for 28% of people, the human touch is still needed to finish the job. Having the help of AI is massive but as humans, some of us will need to go over the work completed just to double-check. Can’t be such an issue, can it? As the technology of this modern-day develops so will AI. That is okay. From the self-driving cars invented by Elon Musk to the robotic factories, Amazon Alexa, Siri, self-checkout at your local supermarket, there are so many more advantages than disadvantages to advanced technology into the future and there will be so much more to come. Self-checkouts at supermarkets are quick and easy, everyone uses them for a better shopping experience. Especially throughout the global pandemic, as less contact as possible was the safest way to stay healthy. In fact, I cannot remember the last time I went to a till with a human serving me. Can you? Everyone sees this as a positive but then they fear the future of robots. They will be put in place to help people, not destroy them.
So, after this informed opinion. How do you feel? Are you as worried as you were before this reading? AI is here to change lives, not made to have a negative impact on lives. Believe me. This is the future, our children’s future, our grandchildren’s future. AI is the upcoming change we all must embrace.
